Routes ready for the first Tiirismaa Trail from Messilä

Although the Tiirismaa Trail is not a new race, track champion Juha Sorvisto got to an empty table, as it were, when the competition center in the event moved from the Heinsuo ski center to the Messilä snow center. At the same time, the landscapes of Vesijärvi and the hills of Messilä become part of all Tiirismaa Trail trips, offering challenges and landscapes for all trips regardless of length. Especially the shorter distances of 8 and 12 km have experienced relatively the most change, since the competition center is on a completely different side of Tiirismaa. I hope this is in the minds of the competitors.

The longer distances of 21 and 42 km have also changed, and in practice, 2 km of flatter sections have been removed from the routes, and one new climb (Tiirismaa Takaseinä) from the old Tiirismaa ski slope area has taken its place. This is reflected in the increase amount and all routes have received even more increase than in previous years (see table below).

The final printable route map of the Tiirismaa Trail can be found below. Below the route map you can see the elevation profile for the 21 km round. There have been minor changes to the map from the original, so you should take this into account if you have looked at the route before and downloaded, for example, a gpx file to your watch. You should especially update them to the latest versions if you want the watch's guidance to also match the race route! In addition, the nature reserve areas that fall on the route (LS area) are marked in more detail on the map, and it is good to know that especially at these points it is worth remembering two important principles of the trail runner's etiquette: 1) let's stay on the marked route and 2) garbage is not left on the ground. This is certainly obvious to most people!
